DEUTERONOMY 31:6

…The Lord your God goes with you;

I trust in your unfailing love;

God is our refuge and strength,

This God is our God

PROVERBS 3:5-6

    but the Lord determines his steps.

Many are the plans in a man’s heart,
    but it is the Lord’s purpose
        that prevails.


PROVERBS 20:24

A man’s steps are directed by the Lord.
How then can anyone
    understand his own way?


JEREMIAH 10:23

I know, O Lord, that a man’s life is
    not his own;
it is not for man to direct his steps.


PROVERBS 21:30

There is no wisdom, no insight, no plan
    that can succeed against the Lord.


ECCLESIASTES 3:1-2

There is a time for everything,
    and a season for every activity

ISAIAH 14:24

The Lord Almighty has sworn,

He will be the sure foundation for

MATTHEW 6:34

“Are not two sparrows sold for a penny?

ROMANS 5:1-5

Therefore, since we have been
    justified through faith,
we have peace with God through our
    Lord Jesus Christ,

    access by faith
    into this grace in which we now stand.
And we rejoice in the hope of the
    glory of God.
Not only so,
    but we also rejoice in our sufferings,
because we know that suffering
    produces perseverance;
        perseverance, character; and
            character, hope.
And hope does not disappoint us,
because God has poured out his
    love into our hearts
by the Holy Spirit, whom he has
    given us.


ROMANS 8:17-18,23-24.28-19

Now if we are children, then we are heirs –
    heirs of God and coheirs with Christ,
if indeed we share in his sufferings
    in order that we may also share
        in his glory.
I consider that our present
    sufferings are not worth comparing
with the glory that will be revealed in us.

…we wait eagerly for our adoption as sons,
        the redemption of our bodies.
For in this hope we were saved.

And we know that in all things
God works for the good
     of those who love him,
who have been called 
    according to his purpose.
For those God foreknew
    he also predestined
    to be conformed to the likeness
        of his Son,
that he might be the firstborn
    among many brothers.


ROMANS 8:31,35,37-39

If God is for us,
who can be against us?

Who shall separate us
    from the love of Christ?
Shall trouble or hardship
or persecution or famine
or nakedness or danger or sword?

No, in all these things we are
more than conquerors through him
    who loved us.
For I am convinced that neither
    death nor life,
neither angels nor demons,
neither the present or the future,
    nor any powers,
neither height nor depth,
    nor anything else in all creation,
will be able to separate us from the
    love of God
that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.


1 CORINTHIANS 1:9

God, who has called you into fellowship
with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord,
    is faithful.


2 CORINTHIANS 1:3-5

Praise be to the God and Father of
    our Lord Jesus Christ,
the Father of compassion and the
    God of all comfort,
who comforts us in all our troubles
    so that we can comfort those
        in any trouble
with the comfort that we ourselves
    have received from God.
For just as the sufferings of Christ
    flow over into our lives,
so also through Christ 
    our comfort overflows.


2 CORINTHIANS 4:16-18

Therefore we do not lose heart.
Though outwardly we are wasting away,
    yet inwardly we are being renewed
        day by day.
For our light and momentary troubles
    are achieving for us an eternal
glory that far outweighs them all.
So we fix our eyes not on what is seen,
    but on what is unseen.
For what is seen is temporary,
    but what is unseen is eternal.


2 CORINTHIANS 5-7

We live by faith, not by sight.


2 CORINTHIANS 12:9-10

He said to me,
“My grace is sufficient for you,
    for my power is made perfect
       in weakness."
Therefore I will boast all the more
    gladly about my weaknesses,
so that Christ’s power may rest on me.
That is why, for Christ’s sake,
    I delight in weaknesses, in insults,
in hardships, in persecutions,
    in difficulties.
For when I am weak, then I am strong.


PHILIPPIANS 1:29

For it has been granted to you on
    behalf of Christ
not only to believe on him, but also
    to suffer for him.


PHILIPPIANS 3:10,13-14

I want to know Christ
    and the power of his resurrection
and the fellowship
   of sharing in his sufferings

One thing I do:
Forgetting what is behind
    and straining toward what is ahead,
I press on toward the goal to win the prize
    for which God has called me heavenward
      in Christ Jesus.


PHILIPPIANS 4:4-7,11-13,19

Rejoice in the Lord always.
I will say it again:  Rejoice!
Let your gentleness be evident to all.
The Lord is near.
Do not be anxious about anything,
    but in everything,
by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving,
    present your requests to God.
And the peace of God, which
    transcends all understanding,
will guard your hearts and minds
    in Christ Jesus.

I have learned to be content 
          whatever the circumstances.
I know what it is to be in need, and I
    know what it is to have plenty.
I have learned the secret of being content
    in any and every situation,
whether well fed or hungry, whether
    living in plenty or in want.
I can do everything through him
    who gives me strength.

God will meet all your needs
    according to his glorious riches in
        Christ Jesus.


1 THESSALONIANS 5:16-18,24

Be joyful always;
pray continually;
give thanks in all circumstances,
    for this is God’s will for you in
Christ Jesus.

The one who calls you is faithful.


HEBREWS 4:12-13

The word of God is living and active.
Sharper than any double-edged sword,
It penetrates even to dividing soul
          and spirit, joints and marrow;
it judges the thoughts and attitudes
          of the heart.
Nothing in all creation is hidden
          from God’s sight.
Everything is uncovered and laid bare
before the eyes of him to whom we
          must give account.


HEBREWS 6:19-20

We have this hope
    as an anchor for the soul,
        firm and secure.
It enters the inner sanctuary behind
    the curtain,
where Jesus, who went before us,
    has entered on our behalf.


HEBREWS 11:1

Faith is being sure of what we hope for
    and certain of what we do not see.


HEBREWS 10:23

Let us hold unswervingly to the
    hope we profess,
for he who promised is faithful.


HEBREWS 12:1-3

Since we are surrounded by such a
    great cloud of witnesses,
let us throw off everything that hinders
    and the sin that so easily entangles,
and let us run with perseverance
    the race marked out for us.
Let us fix our eyes on Jesus,
    the author and perfecter of our faith,
who for the joy set before him
    endured the cross,
        scorning its shame,
and sat down at the right hand of
    the throne of God.
Consider him who endured such
    opposition from sinful men,
so that you will not grow weary
    and lose heart.


HEBREWS 13:5,8

God has said,
    “Never will I leave you;
        never will I forsake you.”

Jesus Christ is the same
yesterday and today and forever.


JAMES 1:2-4

Consider it pure joy my brothers,
    whenever you face trials of many kinds,
because you know that the testing
    of your faith develops perseverance.
Perseverance must finish its work
    so that you may be mature and complete,
        not lacking anything.


JAMES 1:12

Blessed is the man 
    who perseveres under trial,
because when he had stood the test,
    he will receive the crown of life
        that God has promised 
            to those who love him.


1 PETER 1:3-9

Praise be to the God and Father of
    our Lord Jesus Christ!
In his great mercy
    he has given us new birth
        into a living hope
    through the resurrection 
    of Jesus Christ from the dead,
and into an inheritance that can
    never perish, spoil or fade –
    kept in heaven for you,
who through faith 
    are shielded by God's power
    until the coming of the salvation
    that is ready to be revealed
        in the last time.
In this you greatly rejoice,
    though now for a little while
you may have had to suffer grief in
    all kinds of trials.
These have come so that your faith –
   of greater worth than gold,
which perishes even though refined by fire –
    may be proved genuine
and may result in praise, glory and honor
    when Jesus Christ is revealed.
Though you have not seen him, 
        you love him;
    and even though you do not see him
          now, you believe in him
and are filled with an inexpressible
    and glorious joy,
for you are receiving 
    the goal of your faith,
    the salvation of your souls.


1 PETER 2:20-21

If you suffer for doing good 
     and you endure it,
    this is commendable before God.
To this you were called,
    because Christ suffered for you,
leaving you an example,
    that you should follow in his steps.


1 PETER 4:12-13,16,19

Dear friends, do not be surprised at
    the painful trial you are suffering,
as though something strange were
    happening to you.
But rejoice that you participate in
    the sufferings of Christ,
so that you may be overjoyed when
    his glory is revealed.

If you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed,
    but praise God that you bear that name.

Those who suffer according to God’s will
    should commit themselves
    to their faithful Creator
        and continue to do good.


1 PETER 5:6-7

Humble yourselves, therefore, under
    God’s mighty hand,
        that he may lift you up in due time.
Cast all your anxiety on him
    because he cares for you.


REVELATION 1:17-18
  
“Do not be afraid.
I am the First and the Last.
I am the Living One;
I was dead, and behold I am alive
    for ever and ever!
And I hold the keys 
    of death and Hades."
